AFA' S TLMP Lawsuit Gains Community Support

The City Council for the City of Wrangell, Alaska, voted to join AFA as co-plaintiff in the lawsuit and agreed to contribute $25,000 toward the effort. Concerned Alaskans for Resources and Environment (C.A.R.E.) also voted to become a co- plaintiff in the action.

Now the administration’s goal for the Forest Service apparently is to have the system “timber benign by ’99.” The effect on regional economies and rural communities is apparently of no concern to the White House.

The Tongass Land Management Plan ( TLMP ) outlines land and resource management planning over the next decade for the nation’s largest national forest.
